NYC’s ACT Institute Facilitates Important Discussions at the Oregon Center of Excellence for Assertive Community Treatment Annual Conference

Luis Lopez, Coordinator of Fidelity and Best Practices of the ACT Institute at the Center for Practice Innovations at Columbia Psychiatry, was one of the keynote speakers at the Annual Oregon Center of Excellence for Assertive Community Treatment (OCEACT) Conference, June 12-13, 2017. His keynote address, “Promoting Recovery in ACT,”reviewed the philosophy, concepts, and applications of a recovery-based, person-centered approach to ACT work. During the keynote, Luis examined strength-based language, peer support, Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAP), trauma-informed care, the Eight Dimensions of Wellness, and cultural competency. He addressed over 170 ACT Team staff members, including peer specialists, family specialists, team leaders, substance use specialists, and nurses.
