ACT Profile Support Call

The ACT Institute is please to host a quarterly support call for ACT Team Leaders to discuss the ACT PROFILE. Dr. Steve Huz will on the call to dialog with Team Leaders regarding any questions Team Leaders may have about the ACT profile.

The call will take place on May 24th from 3-4PM. Please feels free to invite agency supervisors and QA Departments.

Please note: Call-in information will be emailed to ACT Team Leaders.

Steve Huz, PhD. is a Research Scientist in the Office of Performance Measurement and Evaluation at the New York State Office of Mental Health. In that capacity, Dr. Huz oversees statewide performance measurement and evaluation for a number of OMH initiatives including Assertive Community Treatment (ACT), Personalized Recovery Oriented Services (PROS), Assisted Outpatient Treatment (AOT) and assessment of consumer perception of service quality. Dr. Huz received his doctorate in Public Administration from the University at Albany, New York.

ACT: Review of Substance Abuse Specialist Role on ACT Teams – Kickoff Meeting (ACT Team members only)

When: Friday, May 26th, 2017 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM

Description:

This two-hour online meeting will review the role of the substance abuse specialist on an ACT Team in accordance with the Tool for Measurement of Assertive Community Treatment (TMACT), the ACT Fidelity Scale. Team Leaders will be encouraged to share challenges and questions from their practice.

 

Course Objectives:

  • Participants will learn about the transitional care practice framework
  • Participants will identify clinical challenges and opportunities in helping consumers transitioning from ACT to less intensive services
  •  Participants will learn about resources/tools available to begin the transition process with consumers and their families
  •  Participants will identify tools to enhance ongoing staff development around issues of transitional care practices

ACT Team Leader Support Call

Pascale Jean-Noel, Director of Training, will host a Team Leader Support Call which will be held on the first Monday of each month. The first one will take place on Monday, June 5th, from 12pm-1pm. This call time will be an open forum for team leaders and/ or Program Assistants to ask questions or raise concerns relevant to the team leader role on ACT. 

Questions and discussions can include: 

  • Team training
  • Community visits
  • Treatment plans
  • Transition
  • Administrative issues
  • Accessing the LMS

The ACT Institute provides training, support, and consultation to Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) providers across New York State.  Our training curriculum is based on national evidence-based practice consortium standards and modifications to these standards as developed by the Office of Mental Health. Training is delivered via in-person and distance-learning modalities. Our trainers include both staff of the Center for Practice Innovations and other expert consultants.

Mr.Louis Vavrina will talk about Navigating Recovery's Rocky Road. Mr. Vavrina is a recent Howie the Harp graduate who, as part of that training, did an internship at the Center for Practice Innovations.

The ACT Institute will host monthly ACT TALK.  In a radio interview style, the director of the ACT Institute, Helle Thorning, will engage invited guests in a dialog of emerging issues related to ACT in today's health care environment.  Listeners are invited to participate and we look forward to stimulating and informative conversations during this critical time in health care.

My Internship with the Center for Practice Innovations

I have been asked to write about my experience as the Howie the Harp peer intern at the Center for Practice Innovations this fall, and I do so with the greatest pleasure. Mine was a fulfilling experience, both on a personal and on a professional level
