11 Aug 2020 ACT Town Hall: Reconceptualizing the Delivery of ACT in our Challenging Environment 8/11/2020 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

ACT Town Hall: Reconceptualizing the Delivery of ACT in our Challenging Environment

During June, July and August, the ACT Institute will host a monthly Town Hall meeting for ALL ACT providers (all team roles) in NYS.

We originally intended to focus on the challenges presented by the pandemic. However, given the historic social unrest and turmoil across the country – fueled by years of societal racism and discrimination against people of color and others – we thought that at least for the first Town Hall we would offer ACT providers an opportunity to discuss their experiences and reactions to what is unfolding around us and its impact on ACT work. In addition to providers sharing personal experiences and thoughts, among other things, we hope that the Town Hall will provide the opportunity to examine how the delivery of services have changed based on our current medical and sociopolitical environment.

We look forward to your participation in engaging and dynamic conversations around these important topics during the Town Hall Sessions.

Tuesday, June 9th from 3 - 4:30 PM

Wednesday, July 14 from 1 - 2:30 PM

Wednesday, August 11 from 11AM - 12:30 PM

12 Aug 2020 ACT African, African American, Afro Latinx and Afro Caribbean Affinity Group 8/12/2020 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Last month, the ACT Institute bean with Affinity Group Session for ACT Practitioners to debrief around the historical impacts of white supremacy, systemic racism & police brutality.

After the dynamic discussion during the session of ACT Affinity Groups, the ACT Institute will continue offering a platform to continue moving the conversation forward with Affinity Group Session for ACT Practitioners to debrief around the historical impacts of white supremacy, systemic racism & police brutality.

Affinity groups are spaces for people of similar racial or ethnic backgrounds to gather and process together around issues which impact our communities.  The ACT Institute would like to role model the facilitation of affinity groups, with the hope that it will support African, Afro-American, Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Latinx Practitioners, POC (People of Color) Practitioners and White Ally Practitioners.  This may be something that could eventually be implemented within agencies.

The calls will take place via zoom links, listed below (note: each call has a separate link to join.)

We encourage you to join and share your experiences and how we can come together to work toward changing the narrative!

The Zoom information will be emailed to ACT Providers.

We encourage participants to turn on their camera when joining!
